The World of Martin Brown: Horrible Histories and Other Dazzling Drawings

Yesterday, I had the great pleasure of going to Weston Museum to catch up with the wonderful Martin Brown. Well known as the illustrator of the incredibly popular ‘Horrible Histories’, Martin is also the author and illustrator of the ‘Lesser Spotted Animals’ books and ‘Nell and the Cave Bear’.

Weston Museum is currently hosting an exhibition of Martin’s work, showing just how talented he is. Parents and children of all ages were having a lovely time sharing the books on display and looking at all Martin’s artwork. There was plenty of excitement as favourite characters were recognised, provoking lots of discussions about the books they were from.

Martin was leading illustration workshops throughout the day. He quickly built everyone’s confidence by convincing the audience that they could all draw and then sharing a series of exercises to help them to develop their skills. Everyone enjoyed the session and was proud of their pictures.

The exhibition is at the Museum until the 12th November and Martin will be returning to lead more workshops later this year. You can find out more on the Museum website https://westonmuseum.org/events/
